Fans Angered Over Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Tickets

Angered fans are severely criticising organisers of the Michael Jackson tribute concert ‘Michael Forever’ after it emerged they would be effectively auctioning off tickets to those who choose to donate more to charity.

Promoter Global Live Events have been working with some of Michael’s family (some are against the gig) to ensure that ticket sales for the show generate cash for charities that MJ himself supported, such as the AIDS project Los Angeles. But fans are not happy with the process you have to go through to get tickets, which could see thousands of financially constrained fans end up without tickets.

The ticket buying method means that hopefuls must register to buy a ticket, then tell the company how much they would donate to charity if they were to get a ticket. Then, if you’re chosen to get one of the lucrative tickets for the Millennium Stadium show, you have to fork-out the amount you said you would pay. That doesn’t sound too bad, especially as it ensures charities are getting thousands in donations. But organisers have also decided that the more you say you’ll give to charity, the higher the chances are of you getting a ticket.

Jackson fans are storming the Facebook event page with comments on the idea, with one user writing "It's their twisted way of believing they're doing good. NEWS FLASH – Giving to charity should never be about HOW MUCH you can give, it should be the fact that you've chosen to give period!!!"

MJ supporter Daniel Robertson, a Cardiff local, was also against the idea and said to WalesOnline: "It's going to be like a lottery for the rich for myself and my family because the ticket prices are really high. They are steep ticket prices regardless, and then you have to donate to charity."
